String or Paper Strip Method

Wrap a thin strip of paper or string around the base of your finger. Mark where the ends meet, lay flat against a ruler, and measure the length in millimetres. Use our calculator below to convert to your US size.

02

Existing Ring Diameter

Print our to-scale ring sizer chart, cut out the circles, and slide them onto your finger. The circle that fits most comfortably over your knuckle is your size. See the Printable Sizer section below.

💡 Pro Tips for an Accurate Measurement

  • Measure at the end of the day — fingers are slightly larger in the evening due to warmth and activity.
  • Avoid measuring when cold, as fingers shrink and give a smaller reading.
  • If between two sizes, always size up for comfort.
  • Wide bands (6 mm+) fit tighter — consider going half a size up.
  • Measure the specific finger you plan to wear the ring on; each finger differs.
  • For knuckle-fit rings, measure at the widest point of the knuckle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ring sizing before you purchase.

The most common US women's ring size is between size 6 and size 7, with size 6 being the most frequently ordered. However, ring sizes vary significantly by individual, so we always recommend measuring your finger using one of our methods above rather than ordering an average size.
For men, the most common US ring sizes range from size 9 to size 11, with size 10 being the average. Men's fingers tend to be wider and may also vary depending on the width of the band — wider bands typically require sizing up by half a size.
When in doubt, always size up. A ring that is slightly too large can be resized down more easily than one that is too small. For comfort-fit bands, size up half a size as they fit slightly smaller than standard bands due to their domed interior.
Most plain metal bands can be resized one to two sizes up or down by a professional jeweller. However, rings with pavé diamonds around the full band, eternity rings, or rings with certain design elements may not be resizable. Please contact us before purchasing if resizing is a concern.
Yes — fingers can change size due to temperature, time of day, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, and age. It's best to measure your finger multiple times at different times of day and in different temperatures to get the most accurate average. Evening measurements in warm conditions tend to give the most accurate fit for everyday wear.
Wider bands sit higher on the finger and therefore feel tighter than narrow bands of the same diameter. As a general rule: for bands 6 mm or wider, size up by half a size. For bands 8 mm or wider, size up by a full size. Our product pages specify whether this adjustment is needed for each item.
